Garry Atkinson is the Founder & Principal of Ei: Empathic Intelligence, a consultancy service that brings a human lens to artificial intelligence. With more than 15 years of combined education and experience leading major research projects, building community initiatives, and shaping visionary resources, Garry helps navigate the intersection of technology, ethics, and inclusion.

His career has spanned across academic research, nonprofit coordination, and corporate collaboration, where he has led equity-focused projects, collaborated with countless post-secondary institutions, and mentored several emerging researchers. He has also chaired and co-chaired committees dedicated to equity, diversity, and inclusion, producing research, resources, and workshops that equip organizations with the tools to strengthen their inclusive practices.

Educated with an Honours B.A. and Master’s degree in Women’s Studies & Feminist Research, Garry combines quantitative and qualitative methods with a deep commitment to integrity and inclusion. His work consistently bridges evidence with empathy, ensuring that insights not only inform but also inspire intentional action.

Through Ei: Empathic Intelligence, Garry builds on this foundation to help apply AI responsibly, with a focus on context, conscience, and connection. Ultimately, his approach empowers the embrace of innovation without losing sight of human values.
